Greece Sees Revenue Boost from Online Gambling Reforms
Greece has reported a significant increase in tax revenue from online gambling following the implementation of new licensing and regulatory reforms in 2022. The reforms introduced lower tax rates for operators, making the market more attractive to international companies.
The Greek Gambling Commission (HGC) has also implemented robust player protection measures, including mandatory self-exclusion programs and restrictions on advertising. These efforts have been credited with reducing the prevalence of problem gambling while boosting government revenue.
Analysts believe that Greece’s success could inspire similar reforms in other European countries. However, the HGC has cautioned that continuous monitoring and enforcement will be necessary to sustain the market’s growth.
