44 Main Project Space 2016 - 2019 |

“In 2016 and continuing, I decided to focus my art on a very small, triangular space located at 44 Main Street, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. One side of the space has a large window where the public can view my work. My idea was to explore what such an open space on a busy street would bring to my art and to the Gloucester community. It has evolved into an installation series I now call “No Beginning No Ending.” I have found that it is incredibly challenging to show my work in progress, publicly, when it isn’t always a finished project or a “successful outcome”. At times I lose sleep over this. Taking risks, experimenting, and even destroying work is an important part of what makes good art and paves the way to a clearer understanding of all things in life. Showing our humanity as artists is essential for developing trust and a connection to others. This brings hope for the future.” |
